I have had the privilege to photograph weddings on Lusty Beg Island in every season and every kind of weather, it’s always a joy! It’s all the more special for me as I got married on the Island too!
Winter Weddings are so exciting and I’ve included a few things to think about if you’re getting married between November and February.
Get married as early as you can. Keep in mind that during the shortest days of the year, the light starts to fade from 3.30pm onward which doesn’t leave a lot of time for those lovely outdoor portraits that I love so much.
Keep travel time to a minimum between your ceremony and reception venue. If you have a long journey to your reception venue, keep in mind that you will likely be travelling during the best light of the day. You photographer will be able to advise you as to the best plan to create the best photos possible. This might mean that you stop somewhere en route to your reception venue for bridal party photos.
Consider having a first look.
Throw tradition out the window and have a first look. If it’s going to be dark after your ceremony why not see your partner before the ceremony and have some quiet time together. It is such a lovely opportunity to share the excitement of the day together and settle any pre ceremony nerves with a few minutes in each others arms.
Consider the use of lighting in your reception to create a fabulous atmosphere. With the absence of natural light at your reception, it gives you a fantastic opportunity to create a romantic atmosphere with candles, fairy lights and sparklers, let your creativity run wild!
