I have been photographing weddings at Lusty Beg Island for years! It’s one of my all time favourite wedding venues. I even planned my own winter wedding on Lusty Beg.

Lusty Beg Island is easy to find and is accessed by a short ferry from Boa Island Road. Less than 2 hours from Belfast nestled in the gorgeous Fermanagh countryside. Once you step foot on the ferry, you are transport to special atmosphere. There is such a lovely relaxed and intimate vibe.
The most wonderful way to experience the relaxed and intimate vibe on your wedding is by getting ready on the island. There are cosy lodges and a salon for preparations. Then you can host both your ceremony and reception by the lake.
Wedding Morning Prep on Lusty Beg Island
Lusty Beg as well as having spacious and light filled lodges to get wedding ready in, there is also a full salon at the Island Spa
Depending on where you are staying the night before your wedding, you might be just getting ready a few doors down from your betrothed or you might be across the harbour on the opposite side of the island.
Getting Married Outdoors on Lusty Beg Island
An outdoor ceremony is spectacular and at Lusty Beg there are a few options. They are licensed to hold both indoor and outdoor ceremonies. The Civil Ceremony can be performed by a council registrar or anyone who has been ordained to carry out a service. You can also opt to have a Humanist Ceremony which is especially beautiful and completely personalised to you as a couple. You can choose to include traditional or contemporary elements like ancient handfasting, sand ceremonies or passing your rings around your guests before the vows for them to embed their best wishes.
Indoor Wedding Ceremony on Lusty Beg Island
Often your venue will wait until a few hours before your ceremony to make a final call on an indoor or outdoor ceremony due to our weather being so changeable. If the weather isn’t on your side, or outdoors is not for you. Having your ceremony indoors in the Willow Room is also a fabulous option.
Wedding Photos on Lusty Beg Island
After getting hitched, a little time to catch your breath and mingle with your guests is always a good idea. Especially if you are getting married during the summer months and you have plenty of daylight to wander the island for photos. Perhaps in the winter, heading straight out for photos or considering a first look would help you get the best possible photos on your day.
